- Heat the oven at 180°C.
- Cream the butter until soft; gradually adding the sugar, beating until light and creamy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition.
- Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together.
- Combine the mashed bananas, vanilla and buttermilk and mix well.
- Add the dry ingredients alternately with the banana mixture to the creamed mixture in 3 portions; beat well after each addition.
- Add the walnuts and lightly mix it in.
- Pour into a greased 12×10 inch cake pan and bake for 35-40 minutes.
