Devil’s Food Cake

A rich dark chocolate cake that melts in your mouth. Another of Kim’s mother’s delicious cakes, I though I was in heaven when I first bit into a slice of it. Definitely a keeper! The final result is a light and spongy cake with a lovely dark chocolate colour and a delicious taste that will keep you coming back for more.

Ingredients
  • ½ cup softened Butter
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 cup Flour
  • ½ cup Cocoa
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 3-4 tsp Vanilla Essence

    Method
    1. Heat the oven at 160°C.
    2. Sift the flour, cocoa and baking soda. Keep aside.
    3. Blend the butter and sugar
    4. Add the eggs and the sifted flour alternately, mixing well after each addition.
    5. Add the milk and essence and blend well.
    6. Grease and flour a 9×6 baking tin and bake for 35-40 minutes or until a skewer through the center of the cake comes out clean.
