So you want to do IT in India !

The growth of India’s economy in the last decade has been truly remarkable. Much of India’s economic boom can be attributed to the influence of foreign corporations and companies. But entrepreneurs, bureaucrats and politicians there also are now advancing views about how India can transform itself into a knowledge-based economy by riding the information technology (IT) bandwagon. Despite India’s seemingly limitless pool of workers, foreign workers make up for talent shortages faced by the outsourcing industry. Although no one knows exact count of how many foreign IT workers are working in India, some 40,000 expats are estimated to work for Indian IT industry today. To everyones surprise it is predicted that the IT talent shortage there is about to hit a tipping point and industry expects foreigners to make up the difference.
